A plaque recognizing past and present MetroParks commissioners was recently dedicated in the Probate Court offices of the Trumbull County Courthouse in downtown Warren. Park Board Commissioners are volunteers who are responsible for the maintenance and operation of more than 1,100 acres of property that comprise the Trumbull County MetroParks system. Four parks are currently open, with other properties in various stages of development. Space on the plaque has been reserved to honor future commissioner.

Helping dedicate the plaque was Trumbull County Probate Court Judge Thomas A. Swift, who appoints commissioners to staggered three year terms. The plaque also recognizes Trumbull County Probate Court judges who have guided commissioners since the park board was established.

Dog park complete; two- and four-legged crowd attends opening ceremony
Posted September 18, 2009
The partnership among the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Mosquito Lake State Park, YOUTHBUILD of Trumbull County, Trumbull County Commissioners, Trumbull County Probate Court, Friends of the Mosquito Lake Park Dog Park and Trumbull County MetroParks celebrated the grand opening of Cooperation Station Off-leash Dog Park at Mosquito Lake State Park on July 17, 2009, at 1 p.m. The public, including dogs, was invited to share in the festivities of the day, which included light refreshments and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

A little over six months ago individuals from both Mosquito State Park and Trumbull County MetroParks started talks about doing a dog park together. Construction support has been provided by YOUTHBUILD of Trumbull County and Friends of the Mosquito Lake Dog Park. The dog park is open to the public during regular hours for Mosquito Lake State Park.

The dog park includes separate areas for the large and small dogs and water stations in both areas. A special feature is a beach area that is accessible from both areas. Memorial benches can be purchased through the Friends of Mosquito Lake Dog Park which will be placed in the dog park. Cooperation Station Dog Park is located at Mosquito Lake State Park on State Route 305 in Bazetta Township.

A Photo Album includes pictures of the opening ceremony and guests.

Posted April 1, 2009
At its March 2009 meeting, Trumbull County MetroParks Board of Commissioners approved a comprehensive plan for 2009-2013. The document, prepared by Trumbull County Planning Commission staff, is serving as a guideline for improving parks that are now open. In addition, the plan will assist in the development of park properties not yet open to the public. The 300-page document has been organized as a series of PDFs. Read the complete plan...
