Trumbull County, Ohio

The Trumbull County MetroParks Board of Commissioners adopted the 2009 Trumbull MetroParks Comprehensive Plan on March 17, 2009, at its regular monthly meeting. The Board contracted with the Trumbull County Planning Commission for assistance in the development of a plan for the park system that reviews MetroParks' current programs and properties, as well as characteristics of our service area. The work of four citizen planning committees -- Conservation, Recreation, River Trails and Trails -- is summarized in the final version. Goals for the MetroParks and strategies to achieve those goals are also part of the plan.

In order to foster public comments about the plan before it was approved by the MetroParks board, public hearings were held on December 15, 2008, and January 15, 2009. In addition, a Comment Form was published on this Web site to solicit written comments, and an e-mail address was maintained for electronic comments.

MetroParks board and staff is using the 2009 Comprehensive Plan to help improve existing parks and open undeveloped properties over the next five years. Implementation is dependent on the availability of funding and other resources.
